This R4i-SDHC Setup guide page will teach you how to use with the R4i-SDHC DSi Edition Card / R4i-SDHC 3DS Edition Card that you have purchased.

Step 1. Package contents verification

Make sure your R4i-SDHC Package that have domain “www.r4i-sdhc.com” on it and package li the picture show.

Please verify that you have the following items at your R4i-SDHC Package:

  • The R4i SDHC DSi Edition(V1.4.3) card or R4i SDHC 3DS Edition Card
  • A MicroSD card reader.

Step 2. R4i-SDHC Kernel download

If you simply insert the MicroSD card into the R4i-SDHC 3DS or R4i-SDHC V1.4.3 card and power on your Nintendo console, the R4i SDHC will be unable to start: in fact, you need to download the R4i SDHC kerner(firmware) at the root of the MicroSD memory card.

Step 3. Setting up the R4i SDHC Card (R4i-SDHC 3DS or R4i-SDHC V1.4.3)

The file that you download is a compressed archive. The last bit of the file name is “.rar”. Compressed archives may contain one several files, you need to extract those files and copy them onto your MicroSD card. If you feel unsafe about what you are doing, we recommend that you ask a friend or a relative that can help you proceed with the following instructions:

  1. Download the archive (mentioned in the above step) to your PC.
  2. Insert the MicroSD card into your MicroSD card reader.
  3. Insert the MicroSD card reader into your PC.
  4. Open the file explorer of your computer and open your MicroSD card drive.
  5. Extract all the kernel files from the downloaded archive to the root of the MicroSD card.

At this point, your MicroSD card should contain the correct system files for your R4i SDHC. You may also want to copy additional files to your MicroSD card such as photos, games, applications, media, documents…

Step 4. Using the R4i SDHC v1.4.3  or R4i-SDHC 3DS card

Once you have correctly configured the MicroSD card, the instructions are simple:

  1. Insert the MicroSD card into the R4i-SDHC card.
  2. Insert the R4i-SDHC card into your Nintendo 3DS, DSi, DS, DS Lite console.
  3. Turn on your console and let the R4i-SDHC menu appear.

Once the R4i-SDHC menu appears, you have a choice to start a game or application, to play media files or open documents, and to configure your R4i SDHC cart settings.
